          Studio Ghibli, Inc. (株式会社スタジオジブリ Kabushiki-gaisha Sutajio Jiburi is a Japanese animation film studio based inKoganei , Toyko , Japan.The studio is best known for its anime feature films. Studio Ghibli began in June 1985 after the success of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind with funding by Tokuma Shoten. The company's logo features the character Totoro (a large forest spirit) from Miyazaki's film My Neighbor Totoro. At one time the studio was based inKichijōjiMusashino, Tokyo.

          Studio Ghibli has produced nineteen feature films, several short films, television commercials, and a television film. Eight of Studio Ghibli's films are among the 15 highest-grossing anime films made in Japan, with Spirited Away being the highest, grossing over $274 million worldwide.Many anime features created by Studio Ghibli have won the Animage Anime Grand Prix award and three have won the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year. In 2002 , Spirited Away won a Golden Bear and an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

The Museum is closed every Tuesday, except on these Tuesdays: 
 2014: February 11, April 29, May 6, July 22, August 12, September 23, December 23
 2015: January 6, March 24
and Wednesday April 30 and Wednesday May 7, 2014.
Tickets for October 1 and 4, 2014 are only available to residents of Mitaka city and other neighboring cities.
The Museum is also closed at Year-end and for New Year's Holidays, and for periodic maintenance:
  Periodic Maintenance 1: May 19, 2014 through May 30, 2014
  Periodic Maintenance 2: November 4, 2014 through November 14, 2014
  Year-end and New Year Holidays: December 28, 2014 through January 2, 2015

Tickets

Entrance to the Ghibli Museum is strictly by advance purchase of a reserved ticket which specifies the appointed date of the reservation.

Once you purchase a reserved tickets, no changes or refunds are allowed.
When you enter the Museum, you will exchange your reserved ticket with a "film" ticket (Only one film ticket per person).

*Children under 4 are admitted free of charge.
*When purchasing the tickets outside Japan, charges will be calculated in your local currency at the current rate of exchange, and will also include a handling fee.
